Cogitation in the Time of War #21 - It began 1 month ago

Just throwing a curve ball here to let you guys know there's (at least) one video on YouTube "showing evidences" that the aliens 👽 are helping Ukraine because they are attacking Russian equipment and troops.
And if you decide to engage in that discussion, please notice that the term UFO is no longer used by officials nor the scientific community, now it's UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena).
As made famous by that TV show from the 90s with a pair of FBI agents: I want to believe...

I really wanted to write a big text yesterday night or during today since Putin's Invasion of Ukraine started 1 month ago, with a sort of recap, what I got wrong and what I think would happen next but it seems I can't do that tonight too so let me just give you some points; these are broader, not exclusive to Ukraine as per the title of my series we live in a time of war that affects many other regions besides the one in conflict and I also believe some of these are actually consequences of Putin's actions and how the invasion is going:
  1. Yesterday there were reports that NATO raised again its readiness levels, will send biological and chemical protection equipment to Ukraine and Biden suggested they would intervene in case of chemical/biological attacks. Seems we are now closer to an escalation of the situation (and an escalation brings us closer to World War III) 😕
  2. The two Koreas are testing new missiles with one side showing one bigger than all others. Looks like a dick measuring contest...
  3. Things are far from "settled" between Iran and Israel that have attacked, not sure if they still are, each other directly (cyber warfare) and indirectly by striking supposed targets in other countries. First Israel killed (at least) 2 officers of Iran's Revolutionary Guard in Syria and then Iran destroyed some buildings close to the american consulate in the North of Iraq (Kurdistan) that was an alleged secret training centre for Mossad (Israel's intelligence agency).
  4. Azerbaijan and Armenia are fighting again in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. They had a 1,5 month war back in 2020 as well as the 1988-1994 war on the same region. Now Azerbaijan has apparently occupied a settlement in a protected and demilitarised zone. For sure taking advantage of the war in Ukraine since Russia maintains a peacekeeping force (this one was really for peacekeeping) but seems to have moved some units from there to go to Ukraine. Many people have asked themselves if Georgia will also take the hint and advance into the self-proclaimed republics that broke away after Russia's intervention, and subsequent war, in 2008.
  5. Formula 1 had the 2 Friday practice sessions of the Saudi Arabia GP run with fire and smoke in the background, as a result of another strike by Yemen Houthis on the nearby oil refinery (Jeddah). Would they dare to attempt to strike the circuit as to send a (very) public message? I don't think so (it would bring international backlash) but can't rule that out!

I have to admit that things don't look too good. Some weeks ago I was convinced that the final outcome (medium to long term) of the invasion would be a fairly positive one, with improvements for the future to all involved parties, including Russia (cause in my opinion that country can only really move forward if there're a regime change, although painful adjustment period will occur); Now I'm having second thoughts about that...
